About

CAROL HAGEN, Art and Craft Photographer, provides one-stop photography services for high-resolution images of artwork.  JPEG images are sized and matted for direct upload to on-line application systems used to submit art to festivals, fairs, auctions and art exhibits.  Images for web sites are tagged with keywords for optimum search results.

C. HAGEN embarked on her second career as a freelancing fine art  photographer for Len Aronson, ASA Accredited Senior Appraiser in 1995.  Mr. Aronson saw Hagen’s portfolio while visiting her at Richter Jewelry in Nashville.  When Hagen revealed she had photographed her jewelry portfolio since 1978, Aronson asked if she would consider assisting with appraisal photography.

SHOW OFF JPEG SLIDES -  Hagen developed SHOW OFF JPEG SLIDES to represent her photographs of client’s artwork.  As an art and crafts photographer, the primary goal is to represent client’s artwork as accurately as possible. Before digital images, there were 35mm slides.  Although, Hagen prefers digital photography for art and craft portfolios, slide paper frames offered the artist the means to easily communicate their name, medium, dimensions, and year. Digital mats provide the same finished look to art images and effectively define the edges of artwork against similarly colored web backgrounds.  Check out the wide variety of JPEG slides in the  Photography Portfolio and purchase details on CHagenStudio.com.

VISNULIMITED® 2001-2009 -  After closing her jewelry studio, Hagen joined forces with partners to form Visnu, LLC  to develop the software product line, Curatorial Management Systems. Hagen took the lead in CMS documentation services; she and her team transferred established art collection databases into CMS Collection software.  Private collectors employed the CMS team to document and photograph art for estate and insurance plans.  Alas, it was great while it lasted,  providing high quality service, selling thoughtful art products nationally, and hearing how art lovers formed their private collections.  By 2007, changes in the economy effected how art collectors and institutions spent their money; so, Hagen closed Visnulimited in 2009 and in 2010 reopened her original business entity, C. Hagen Studio (1982-2001).  Hagen continues to offer tech support for CMS software users.

2001-2009  Hagen provided Object ID® standard photography as part of Visnulimited® fine art documentation services. Please note, photographs taken by Visnulimited® are protected by contracts and confidentiality agreements; they will not be posted on any  C. Hagen Studio web sites.

IN THE BEGINNING…                                                                                C. HAGEN STUDIO – LIMITED EDITION & CUSTOM JEWELRY 1982-2000 Carol Hagen initiated her apprenticeship with John Chumlea in 1978 and completed professional training in shop management before embarking on a career in fine jewelry design and manufacturing.  “I loved my career as a jeweler, but that other economic recession, the one after 911 that caused the demise of many small jewelry firms, drew those wonderful years to close.  As a single mom, I  made the difficult decision to leave what I loved, for who I loved more.”  By the way, it worked!  Ten years later, I’m back in the studio and my girls are doing well at 17 and 21.
